A Remedy-at the Kitchen Table

11646789_sMy favorite place in the house is at the kitchen table. A place to eat, drink, and enjoy family time. Another special time at the table is sharing old and new information with friends. Oh, how the time flies when you are having that kind of fun.

As a reader you may be wondering where this is leading, in regards to the title of this blog. Would you believe it leads to the church, pastor and you? If you have been in church services for any length of time, you have heard sermons preached on:

Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all of Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:   Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

The preacher then continues the sermon, encouraging us to witness to our neighbors, co-workers and the clerk in the store. Every time I hear sermons on soul winning and  how we need to be sharing the Gospel of Christ, I am under conviction, knowing that I need to share Christ more. Perhaps you feel the same. Churches provide visitation schedules, and  lists of subdivisions for us to visit. Prayer is given for the Lord to open the door to witness. Sad to say, but the majority of church members do not get involved in this activity. This type of outreach has been great and over the years there have been hundreds and even thousands of people who have been saved. As a testimonial, this is how my sisters and I started going to church and in time, saw both of our parents come to the Lord. This type of church visitation will always be important.

Years ago, God spoke to me when I was the administrator of the Kiddie Kollege daycare in Milford, Ohio, pressing on my heart to meet the parents and families where they live. Meaning, meet the need of caring and loving their children, and in turn they would be open to the Gospel when I would make home visits. Wow! What a way to reach Mom and Dad, love their child or children.

In the past nine years, God has impressed on me to reach community moms through building relationships with them. That is how “Its 4 uMom” ministry got started.Logo - large

The basic concept: Invite community moms to the “Kitchen table,” and  build friendships. In time, witnessing naturally happens, souls are saved and the church grows. When you get involved in this way of reaching moms in the community, you become a soul-winner just by connecting. As you help to meet needs, share and live Christ before the moms, they in turn want what you have – Christ.

First, meeting the needs of moms by helping them become better moms is the same type of concept Jesus shared with us in the Gospels. He met the needs of the people and then saved them. The blind man, the crippled man, the woman with the issue of blood, and the dying child, are some of the examples Christ shared with us.

Getting started in this soul winning endeavor is to “share” with your church leaders what “It’s 4 uMom” offers. Our “What We Offer” page will give information about our unique, simple way to “remedy” ladies getting involved in reaching souls, in a fun, relaxing atmosphere, by building lasting relationships with moms. When you reach mom, you can reach the family and Acts 16:31 becomes a reality: “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and THY HOUSE”.

“It’s 4 uMom” is an outreach ministry for churches to use to connect with the community. We are praying this year, in 2014, that ladies in churches would make themselves available to help reach community moms for Christ. Yes, the “Kitchen table” is set, the chairs are placed around the table, waiting for moms to come. Let’s have a part in winning moms to Christ this new year.
