“Celebrate” is our new theme for the 2015-16, It’s 4 uMom outreach ministry.
Our theme verse is: Psalm 139:14
“I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well”.
We are so excited to have this new theme and prepare for the year ahead. We want to celebrate all that God has in store for the mom’s groups.
The following are some great ideas for your future meetings which take place September through April, meeting once or twice a month. All of the scheduling is planned by the individual church. These ideas are to get the mind in gear for great meetings. Once the leaders get together and discuss the theme, “Celebrate”; the wheels of possibilities with speakers, decorations, refreshments, and mentor mom moments become unlimited. The excitement of a well planned year, focusing on reaching communities moms and building relationships with them, will definitely give us something to celebrate.
Key points to remember:
- Pray, Pray, Pray. When you think you have prayed enough, pray some more.
- Ask God to give you a community mom to invite. Let her be your special mom to pray over, love and build a relationship. You may be the one who shows and leads her to Christ.
- Give out invite cards. Give a card to every mom you meet at Walmart, Target, Dr.’s office, library and the grocery store. Moms want to be invited to mom events. If you invite, they will come.
- Be a Believer that God will help in making your mom’s group a success and in return you can “Celebrate”!!!!
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Get your mind in gear, notepad and pen ready, here we go:
Perfect Attendance awards: Announce at the first meeting that perfect attendance will start in October, so all are notified. Ideas for give aways can be:
- A free night in a hotel (Fairfield Inn or Marriott. Talk with manager)
- Spa Day (Business donation)
- Free Massage: ( donation from Massage Therapist)
Celebrate Monthly Birthdays: Have a large birthday gift bag and put small items in the bag: candles, chocolate, lotions, notepads, thank you notes etc. for moms celebrating their birthdays that month. Summer birthdays can be celebrated in Sept. or in April.
September: Celebrate New Friends Have a birthday party
Speaker: Pro-Life (director of pregnancy center in your city)
Decorations: Table leaders can decorate their table with different party themes. Share party ideas including party favors, cupcake, cake designs and locations for parties etc.
Door prizes: party package, chocolate, pkg. balloons, party favors
Mentor Mom Moment: Psalm 139:14 Explain the yearly verse:
October: Celebrate Health Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Invite cancer survivors and honor them with a special gift
Speaker: (nurse from Baptist Breast Center)
Decorations: Pink and white
Door prizes: Anything pink/ cancer awareness gifts
Mentor Mom Moment: Health for the Soul
November: Celebrate Family Thankful Moms.
Speaker: Chef: Healthy foods for the Holidays: How to cook the Turkey and all the side dishes, Serve a Thanksgiving meal or dessert night (variety of pies) Cost: $3-4 per mom
Decorations: Thanksgiving decor
Door prizes: casserole dishes, left over dishes, pies, table decorations
Mentor Mom Moment: Read Psalm 100. Open up for testimonies
December: Celebrate A Christmas party for Mom.
Speaker: Mentor Mom: Shares the celebration of Christ. Give the plan of salvation
Decorations: Christmas Decor
Moms bring a $5.00 gift to exchange
January: Celebrate New Year, New Beginnings
Speaker: Exercise Instructor OR
Spa stations: Pedicure, hairdresser, foot scrub, nail tech, and a masseuse. Moms free night to roam from station to station
Food court: Snacks, drinks, and finger foods
Mentor Mom Moment: Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit with in me.
February: Celebrate Love
Speaker: Men’s panel (select 3-4 godly men in your church) share love in the home: wife, children and guidelines for a godly home. Encouragement and hope for the single moms who are looking to marry
Decorations: Valentine theme
Door prizes: chocolate, chocolate, chocolate
Mentor Man Moment: One of the men on the panel can give verses, and have prayer
March: Celebrate Springtime around the House.
Speaker: Interior Decorator: fresh ideas for house make overs. Answer questions
Decorations: Spring colors: flowers, bird houses
Door prizes: Spring table arrangement, bathroom towels, bird house
Mentor Mom Moment: God makes all things new
April: Celebrate Superhero Mom
Speaker: Mentor Mom: Christ is our all/ our Hero
Decorations: Superhero table decor
Door prizes: Superhero items for children give aways, chocolate etc.
Perfect Attendance Awards: Moms who have not missed any meetings in the year. Their names are in a basket to draw the winners:
- Free night in a hotel
- Spa Day
- Free massage
Celebrate Every Day with These Ideas:
- Start your day with prayer and reading some Scripture verses. (may need to wake up earlier)
- Don’t let other peoples actions affect you
- Stick to the plan you mapped out for the day
- Be dependable
- Make someone smile
- Be truthful
- Be happy for someone
- Keep a promise
- Don’t complain
- Focus on the solution instead of the problem
- Have positive thoughts
- Use good manners
- Do something unexpected but pleasing for your spouse
- Learn something new today
- Thank the Lord for a good day
