Happy Easter to You!!!!! It is church time. Everyone goes you know. You are wearing a new outfit, purse in hand, the dust is off your Bible and your family is walking hand in hand into the church auditorium. The background music is from an old song, “He Lives”. The chorus ends with: “… you ask me how I know he lives, he lives within my heart.” And friends because I know He lives, I just want to share some verses with you to encourage you to serve the living Christ; or if you are not a born again Christian that today you would accept the Savior who died and rose again for you that you might be saved and live eternally with Him some day.
Mark 16:6 “…Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
Jesus was seen by many people: Mary Magdalene Mk. 16:9. Simon Peter, Luke 24:34. Two men on the road to Emmaus Mk. 16:12. The 12 disciples John 20:25-26. More than five hundred people:
I Corinthians 15:6 ” after that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once…”
Acts 1:3 ” To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:”
Oh what deception we all face if He had not risen. Please read: I Corinthians 15: 14-20
“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. BUT NOW is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”
John 11: 25-26 ” Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
I Peter 1: 3-5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
It is because of God that we are alive and have our being:
Acts. 17:27-29,31 ” That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
Our former pastor Dr. Charles Keen had once said, “Easter makes all the other promises easier to believe.” Matthew 28:8 “And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word.”
One of the greatest promises we can look forward to that was told by two men in white apparel, after Christ’s resurrection and as he ascended to heaven, is found in Acts 1: 11 “Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
Because Jesus is the Son of God and came to earth, born of a virgin, died on the cross for our payment of sin. He arose from the dead and is alive. He will return some day to receive all those who have believed in Him, and have received Him as there personal Savior.
Revelation 22: 20 “…Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
