What a great event to have on a cool, morning or evening at your  mom’s group, Soup, Salad, and Slippers. Just to be able to  sit around the table with other moms, eating hot soup, refreshing salad, and relaxing in your comfortable warm, feel so good, slippers. Whether it has been a long day at work away from the house, or working feverishly at home trying to get all your chores done including, preparing the  dish for the mom’s meeting and getting dinner ready for your family;  you are so ready for  “Mom Time”  or should I say “4uMom.” time.

Do you know Webster’s meaning for these 3 words: soup, salad, and slippers? Of course you do, I mean after all you’re the mom. Dah!  Well, please just entertain me by allowing me a minute to remind you of his definitions:

Soup: A liquid food of many kinds, usually made by boiling meat and vegetables, or either of them, in water, – commonly seasoned or flavored; often used as a cold remedy / healer

Salad: a refreshing food mixture either arranged on a plate or tossed and served with a moist dressing; usually consisting of or including greens

Slippers: a low-cut shoe to slip on the foot/feet. Used to relax, for comfort and to chill.

Soup: a healer.  Moms, did you know that you can be that special person sharing “the healer” Christ, to a mom or moms?  Moms can deliver “soup to the soul” to someone by loving and caring for a friend and introducing Christ to them.

Psalm 147:3 “He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds.”

Salad: is refreshing. Your spirit and attitude can be refreshing to others. How you greet someone, how you respond to someone when they ask you a question or make a comment. You can make someone’s day by being kind, considerate, loving, caring, and joyful. II Timothy 1:16-17 “The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus for he oft refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chain.” Regardless, if a person is homeless, wealthy, married, single, divorced, healthy or sick, you can be refreshing to them.

Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart O, God and renew the right spirit within me”.

If you don’t think your heart is in close touch with God and you feel you need someone to “refresh” you, you can claim this verse and make things right with God now and have the right spirit within you.

So, Moms, find someone to encourage and compliment today. Be a blessing whether it is: someone on the phone, at the store, the delivery person, the dentist, who ever God puts in your path each day, help them enjoy their day.

Slippers: Chill, Relax. Moms can be like “slippers” and comfort someone and for yourself: think on good things that will relax you.

Philippians 4:6-8    “Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

(items needed: bowl of soup, plate of salad from the refreshment table, and a pair of  slippers).
