Say “Thank You”

7056822-businesswoman-writing-the-words-thank-you-with-a-giant-pencil-isolated-on-a-white-backgroundI know it is not the last Thursday of  the month of November; the day we are thankful for everything under the sun. However, every day of our lives, we should be thanking someone for something. I know you can quote verbatim the words of your mom or dad who said over and over again to you as you were growing up: “Now what do you say to the lady?” Your response would be: (all together now) “Thank you”.  This two word phrase is one of the many manners we drill in our children as they are growing up: “Thank You”

“Thank You” is a gratitude of the heart. It is said in appreciation for something someone did for you or gave you. I know moms, that you feel you have accomplished a great goal, when your child can receive something and they respond with a “Thank You” with out you coaxing them! High Five for that accomplishment!!!!!

Now, how about you mom? Do you say “Thank You” without being coaked by a still small echo of your own mom’s voice? How thankful are you? Oh, I know many of you are carrying huge, gigantic loads on your shoulders and you may only be able to thank God for your shoulders that are carrying the loads. You may have some days that the only thing you can thank God for is that the literal sky above you, has not fallen on top of you. You may be a single mom that does it all. You may be struggling with your job and taking care of three or four children who are clinging to your legs 24/7. Your paycheck may not be covering the major bills that have piled high on your kitchen table. You may have a child who is sick with a disease.

You may be struggling with  the old daily routine, knowing that when you get off work, you have to fix dinner, help with homework, start a load of laundry, help with bath time, get clothes and lunches ready for tomorrow, go to bed and get back up and start this daily schedule all over again. You are desiring your world to STOP and just give you a break!!  You may even be screaming, “This Life of being a Mom, never ends!!!!!! HELP”. OK MOM! Hit the pause button: “Chill”!!!! Sit down, and smell the coffee! (or roses).   Let’s start thanking God:

1. Thank God you are a mom!!!! There are many, many ladies in this world that have aching arms, desiring to have a child to hold but for various reasons, they are unable to have children. They would love to care for yours.

2. Thank God you have a job so you can feed your family. There are many people who are with out work and would love to receive a paycheck regardless of the size of that check.

3. Thank God you have the supplies and where with all to fix dinner for your family. Here in the USA you can basically fix whatever you desire.

4. Thank God you are able to care for your children regardless of  your circumstances. God has given you your children for a time, so care for them and love them while you can.

5. Thank God for the little things:  your child clearing the dinner dishes from the table without being asked, the child that gets his homework done early, the fact that your pile of laundry isn’t as high as you thought, the fact that your washer and dryer are working,

6. Thank God for the things that are outside your home: Say “thank you” to the cashier at WalMart, thank the lady that cleans the public bathroom in the store or restaurant,  thank the dentist or the doctor, thank the server at Starbucks and on goes your list.

7. Thank God that you are who God made you to be!!!! A beautiful being, caring for His little ones. God blessed you with a family!!!! That is the greatest of all earthly possessions! Cherish your God given responsibilities.

When you praise the Lord for the little things He gives you, He may just start blessing you. You will see that He is meeting your every need and guiding you in His perfect plan.  It may be like a child who has so many toys, that he can’t even play with all of them, but he sees another toy he doesn’t have in the store window and wants that toy also. The parent says, “no. not now. When you start playing with the toys that are already in your room, then maybe later you can have the toy in the window. ” That was just a side thought,  but maybe you should be grateful and enjoy what God has given you now. After He sees a heart of gratitude, He may add more blessings.

There is a song of a few years back called, “Praise the Lord” by Chris Christian that seems so appropriate for this particular blog. Here are the words and I hope you are blessed:

“Praise the Lord

When you’re up against a struggle, that shatters all your dreams, when your hopes have been cruelly crushed by Satan’s manifested schemes, and you feel the urge within you to submit to earthly fears, and the faith that you’ve been standing in just seems to disappear.

Praise the Lord, He will work through those who praise Him, praise the Lord, for our God inhabits praise, praise the Lord, for the chains that seem to bind you, serve only to remind you, that they drop powerless behind you, when you praise Him.

Now Satan is a liar, and he wants to make us think, that we are paupers when he knows himself we’re children of the King,                                                                                              So lift up the mighty shield of faith for the battle must be won, we know that Jesus Christ has risen and the works already done.

Praise the Lord, He will work through those who praise Him, praise the Lord, for our God inhabits praise, praise the Lord, for the chains that seem to bind you, serve only to remind you, that they drop powerless behind you, when you praise Him.

When you praise Him. When you praise Him. When you praise …..the Lord.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         by Chris Christian

The sun may shine brighter and the smile on your face may become bigger because you spoke from your heart and said, “Thank You God”.

Psalm 119:164 “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgements”.
